Utopian Hymns

citysavage Reach for this if you're in the mood for some bluesy rock and roll with a Beck-like groove. Reminds me of beloved Boston garage rockers Viva Viva. The Crazy Horse-ish, Zeppelinesque hard ballad The Sea is worth the price of admission. Favorite track: The Sea.

Andy K. Wow these are some killer grooves. Great melodies, guitar and vocals. These guys are a tight high quality band.
Tom's Reviews
Tom's Reviews thumbnail
Tom's Reviews I thought the debut record was great, and then this steps up their game beyond even that. There's some darker vibes floating around this album, and still manages to have very well thought out melodies that seem lighter. My favorite tracks are The Sea and Happy; making this well worth the purchase price. Favorite track: The Sea.

Black Coat Quit this place for the poor man, black coated stranger on the run The river over run it's banks, the stranger had drown there too Drown in the flood, never to return, the priest he starved to death This is about ideas, that never happened to me Poor miserable lonely ends, the sailor returning from the sea The Vicodin brings me shelter, what are ghosts that we never see Confused about ideas, that never happened to me, open your mind Consume your meditation, you'll meet your maker Don't need your medication no more Black coated stranger on the run, black coated stranger on the run, black coated stranger on the run

I Feel It 03:24
I Feel It I feel it, on Monday, and Tuesday, and Wednesday Thursday, Friday, Saturday, even on the Lord's day This empty, inside me, I cannot control I need it, you need it, I need it more and more A diamond, in the, blue sky I need it, I need it, I need it more and more Come and see what you have done, come and see what you've become There they, encamp, sea weary, sailors Fearing no danger, they kindle a fire High on the island, the hot flames, they blaze And joy returns, to travelers worn hearts Come and see what you have done, come and see what you've become I feel it, on Monday, and Tuesday, and Wednesday Thursday, Friday, Saturday, even on the Lord's day This empty, inside me, I cannot control I need it, you need it, I need it more and more A diamond, in the, blue sky I need it, I need it, I need it more and more Come and see what you have done, come and see what you've become

StewBall 04:32
Stewball Way out in California, where Stewball was born All the jockey's in the country, said he blew there in a storm You bet on Stewball, you might win, win, win You bet on Stewball, you might win You bet on Stewball, you might win It was a big day, in Dallas, Texas Don't you, wish you, was there You would'a bet your last green dollar On that, grey iron mare You bet on Stewball, you might win You bet on Stewball, you might win You bet on Stewball, you might win You bet on Stewball, you might win When the horses were a saddled, and the word was given go All the horses they shot out, like an arrow from a bow When that big bell was a ringin, and the horses, they did run And that big bell, was a singin, and the horses, they did run You bet on Stewball, you might win You bet on Stewball, you might win You bet on Stewball, you might win You bet on Stewball, you might win You bet on Stewball, you might win, win, win You bet on Stewball, you might win You bet on Stewball, you might win You bet on Stewball, you might win, win, win You bet on Stewball, you might win You might win

Satellite 03:46
Satellites Here it comes again, another nightfall When my eyes first saw you, black scarf, velvet gloves I guess I was feeling, alright Pleased to meet you, let me take you by the hand Just a little pin prick, from my medicine bag Walk a thousand miles, on hot desert sand Up ahead, purple mountain majesty Makes me feel fine Come a little closer, let me speak the language Come a little closer, let me speak the language Come a little closer, let me speak the language We both understand Here it comes again, another nightfall When my eyes first saw you, black scarf, velvet gloves I guess I was feeling, alright Pleased to meet you, let me take you by the hand We are satellites, across the curve of Earth, your body a paradise We are satellites, across the curve of Earth, your body a paradise Come a little closer, let me speak the language We both understand Our love is high, on a satellite

The Sea 06:41
The Sea There is an old man who lives by the sea There is an old man living at the edge of the jetty by the rocks at the edge of the sea And on this dark night, in this terrible storm I need a shepherd to guide me, away from the rocks and through this raging storm On this dark night I need the shepherd to send a light through the dark across the sea And into my heart to save me, from this terrible storm I need the shepherd to guide me, away from the rocks and through this raging storm I hear the bells toll, from on top of the hill The devil's coming for me, I am running still I just lost my mind, and the world ain't far behind There is an old man who lives by the sea There is an old man living at the edge of the jetty by the rocks I'll need the shepherd to send a light through the dark across the sea And into my heart to save me I've just lost my mind, and the world ain't far behind I've just lost my mind, and the world ain't far behind I've just lost my mind, and the world ain't far behind
